Međimurje is a cyclist’s dream come true due to its beautifully diverse landscapes and excellent cycling infrastructure. Ascending the gentle wine-growing hills is extremely rewarding once you take in the breathtaking views, but also a serious challenge for those who want to sweat it out. The lowland routes along the Mura and Drava rivers are suitable for families and everyone looking for light rides, but also for those who seek the thrill of speed.
There is a lot to choose from, since the Cyclist Welcome network consists of no less than 888 km of on- and off-road cycling routes. Off-road gravel trails mostly run along river banks through the Mura-Drava Regional Park, while on-road trails pass through quiet villages and low-traffic towns, mostly along marked cycling lanes.
The international routes are: Amazon of Europe bike trail, Drava route, Mura route, EuroVelo 13 - Iron Curtain route, Cycle in a Network and Happy Bike route. There are also a dozen circular themed routes within Međimurje, such as Pušipel trail connecting Čakovec with the Terme Sveti Martin resort and Štrigova along the Međimurje Wine Road.
The Cyclist Welcome label is used for accommodation, catering and other facilities meeting the needs and offering services to cyclists.
